Managing project teams

About the training

The training is primarily aimed at individuals with responsibility for structuring projects (e.g. project managers, project leaders, coordinators and line superiors).

This training specifically addresses the question of how participants can be brought together as a proper team at the beginning of a project, how differing interests can be accepted and nevertheless brought under one umbrella and how any risk of disintegration that may arise during later phases of a project can be effectively countered.

An example project is repeatedly used to show how to identify dynamic group patterns that can occur in project teams and how to act / respond promptly if they do arise.

Objective

The participants learn

  • how to avoid key errors from the very outset and encourage identification with the project and the project team

  • the underlying effects of group dynamics on a project team, how these can be identified and how they can be effectively countered

  • what steps are necessary to keep individual project members motivated

  • how to deal with typical sensitive project situations while taking into account team dynamics

Method

The fictitious project "Filan market launch" is used to identify key milestones and typical situations between the start of a project and its conclusion that are particularly important in terms of team dynamics. Approaches are discussed, played out in the seminar group and then applied to real life circumstances. Typical project situations experienced by participants are actively included in the discussions.
