Project management methods and techniques
 

About the training

The training is primarily aimed at individuals who are involved with projects in a planning, controlling or support capacity (project managers, project leaders, coordinators and decision-makers). Switching between short presentations, practice sessions, plenary discussions and transfer measures, the training teaches fundamental project management methods and forms and types of cooperation. It also examines how to take a project forward if project participants aren't aware of the fundamental rules or are unwilling to accept them for other reasons.

 

Objective

The participants learn

  • how to plan a project in phases

  • project planning methods and how to apply them

  • to apply methods for monitoring projects

  • about the functions of and the interrelations between project participants

  • to work out ways to take a project forward even in cases of resistance

  • to identify procedures and methods for including external people involved in the project

  • Power presentations

Procedure

Day 1:

  • Start of training

  • Fundamentals of project management: history and areas of application

  • Project management organizational chart: determining the project structure and interrelations before the start of the project

  • Planning based on project phases: a basic structure with various alternative forms

  • Project phase I: The definition phase - power presentations and practice units

Day 2:

  • Project phase II: Top-down planning - power presentations and practice units

  • The network plan: myths and reality

  • Project phase III: Bottom-up planning - power presentation and practice unit

  • The importance of risk analysis

Day 3:

  • Monitoring projects: Project control methods and success strategies

  • Dealing with resistance, conflicting interests and stress

  • Involvement of sub-contractors

  • Structuring the end of the project and kick-out meeting

  • End of training
